Thomas Cullen was born in New York in 1922. He had completed two years of college and was unmarried when he enlisted i the Army in September 1942 in Albany, N.Y. Cullen joined the 10th Mountain Division while it was engaged in mountain and winter warfare training at Camp Hale, Colo. He then transferred to Camp Swift, Tex.
